In this session Jane Kennedy talks with Dr Josie McSkimming about leaving the Sydney Anglican church and her once fundamentalist worldview. Josie talks about her research into faith deconstruction that led to her book, Leaving Christian Fundamentalism and the reconstruction of identity. Also, on finding friends after church community, and, her new memoir, Gutsy Girls, about her story of leaving faith and the impact of her late sister, the rule breaking and subversive writer Dorothy Porter.
We acknowledge the Indigenous people of the lands we have recorded on. Our speakers and hosts are located on Aboriginal Country all across the lands now called Australia and Maori lands across Aoteoroa. We pay our respect to Indigenous elders who are custodians of these lands and extend that respect to any Indigenous people attending our event.
