About this speaker
Sam is a Registered Therapist and Clinical Supervisor specialising in trauma-informed support for survivors of religious trauma, faith deconstruction, spiritual abuse, cults, and high-control religious systems. With a personal understanding of the LGBTQIA+ experience, Sam is passionate about creating affirming spaces for individuals from all walks of life, while advocating for human rights and marginalised voices.
Proudly part of the LGBTQIA+ community, Sam integrates warmth, humour, and empathy into her work, believing in the healing power of laughter. She shares her therapy space with Naya, her intuitive Cavoodle, who often joins in sessions.
Beyond therapy, Sam is the co-founder of The Religious Trauma Collective (RTC), offering resources, support, and training for both survivors and professionals. Sam also hosts the Beyond the Surface podcast, where she amplifies stories, and deepens conversations around religious trauma and healing.
Sam has authored the eBook A Shattered Sanctuary: From Fellowship to Freedom which is her own journey of deconstructing and leaving high-control religion. She also created the workbook Embracing Queerness & Faith, supporting individuals navigating the intersection of queer identity and spirituality.
