About this speaker
Chris Csabs (pronounced Chabs) is a survivor of over seven years in the LGBTQA+ conversion movement. He is a co-author of the SOGICE Survivor Statement, a document that has been utilised by advocates, researchers and policy-writers around the world.
Chris has been at the forefront of media interest surrounding the issue of conversion practices, appearing on television (including Christians Like Us, Today, The Feed, The Project), radio (including ABC Radio, JJJ The Hack, Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS FM), in podcasts and in print media. He is a respected LGBTQ+ advocate, presenting regularly at conferences and authoring a range of media articles about the intersectionality of sexuality and religion.
He has been a member of the Steering Committee for the national Conversion Ideology and Practices Research Project (La Trobe University) since 2020. He recently wrote a short story about his experiences with conversion practices for the anthology 'Shame-Sex Attraction' published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers in the UK.
