About this speaker
Charlotte Cummings is a counsellor based in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Across her work, Charlotte has a specialty in responding to the various forms of trauma which can be experienced in religious contexts. In addition to seeing private counselling clients, she is also a Licensed Private Investigator, who works with faith based groups around the prevention of and response to abuse and harm (www.pathfinding.co.nz).
The experiences of women who were born into life at Gloriavale is the subject of her current research, as part of a PhD programme through the University of Newcastle. This research explores leaver’s experiences, as well as the perceptions of professionals in providing leavers with support. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of women leavers so that the gendered nature of leaving a high demand religious group can be better understood.
